Coconut oil comes from the nut (fruit) of the coconut palm. Coconut oil contains Lauric Acid that can have antimicrobial properties. Coconut oil is occlusive, meaning it sits on top of the skin and traps moisture beneath. For this reason, coconut oil is best when used on damp skin as the oil itself does not contain natural moisture.
Coconut oil helps smooth the skin and lock in existing moisture. Its antimicrobial properties helps to kill bacteria on the skin and reduce inflammation.
