shea butter

Shea Butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the Shea (Karite) tree found on the African continent. The Shea tree grows in the Sahel region which is a semi arid area that extends from West to East Africa, from Guinea and Senegal to Uganda and South Sudan. The Northern part of Ghana is located in this area and that is where Nokware’s Shea Butter comes from. Shea butter is solid at room temperature, but quickly melts when rubbed between the palms or exposed to heat or the hot sun. Shea butter should be stored in a cool, dry place.

benefits

Shea butter has been used by our African ancestors for centuries. It is incredibly moisturizing. It also contains vitamins A which is known for improving certain skin conditions such as blemishes, wrinkles, eczema, dermatitis and many other skin related ailments. Although Shea butter is derived from a tree nut, it is very low in the proteins that can trigger allergies making it safe for most skin types. All Nokware butters, with the exception of our raw shea butter, are mixed with other oils. For this reason, we advise that if you have sensitive skin, you read our ingredient list carefully or select our raw & unrefined shea butter to be extra safe.
